First Edition. The front of the book and the dust jacket look in good condition, but something wet has been spilled on the back of the book, just at the corner where the spine and back cover come together. There is a tear and some water stain at the top of the back dust jacket and the tops of the last few pages. This is an autobiography of the general manager of the Metropolitan Opera Company in the mid Twentieth Century. Sir Rudolph Bing is described by the late Cyril Richard (Captain Hook in the Broadway/Mary Martin Peter Pan) thusly: "Don't be misled--behind that cold, austere, severe exterior, there beats a heart of stone." A very good read. Acerbic wit, anecdotes about the famous Divas of the opera. Our book number 35001.
