Eight B&W glossy portraits of the essayists. Includes thoughts from William James, E.V. Lucas, Henry Seidel Canby, G.K. Chesterton, Agnes Repplier, Henry van Dyke, A.C. Benson, Walter Prichard Eaton, Richard La Gallienne, Samuel M Crothers, Joseph Conrad, Woodrow Wilson and Hendrik van Loon. Title page missing. (I can include a copy from another book just for interest's sake if requested). Many markings on the CONTENTS page. Ink on page 3. Pencil on page 21. Underlining in "MONEY". Residue from tape repair on page 90 that must have occurred previous to the library binding. Aside from the crucial identifying page being missing, all the essays, the photos, and the QUESTIONS AND DISCUSSION section in the back of the book are all clean and intact. The embossed Mandala on the front cover is in a rectangular portion of the cover that has been miraculously preserved, so one may see what the original finish was like on the cover. A search of this author's work ties him to the Theosophists and the rise of Ar thought in the 1930's, Far Eastern thought and mountain climbing. An interesting character.
